Naver Cloud and Naver Labs will collaborate with CJ OliveNetworks to jointly develop smart city projects. On the 29th, the three companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for "Joint Discovery of Smart City Projects and Platform Commercialization" at Naver’s second office building, 1784.
Through this agreement, the three companies will ▲ jointly discover and promote smart city business opportunities domestically and internationally ▲ discover and promote commercialization of digital twin-based smart city platforms (including urban management, robots, AR, etc.) ▲ develop and provide smart city services and solutions by integrating each company’s technologies and capabilities, thereby cooperating to discover smart city projects and commercialize platforms.
Naver Cloud will support the stable operation of ICT infrastructure for smart cities through the Naver Cloud Platform. It also plans to discover and support smart city opportunities both domestically and internationally and secure leadership in smart city projects. Naver Labs will provide its proprietary digital twin development solution based on artificial intelligence, ‘ALIKE’, the Naver Cloud Platform, and 5G-based autonomous service robot ‘Rookie’, along with its digital twin and robot technologies. Naver Cloud and Naver Labs previously showcased a platform-type office building that integrates digital twin, robot, and AI technologies at ‘1784’, Korea’s first robot-friendly building.
CJ OliveNetworks plans to design and provide services related to smart city projects and support various content applied to digital twins for smart cities. Utilizing the expertise of CEO Yuin Sang, a smart city expert who oversaw the Sejong and Busan national pilot cities, and the company’s technologies and capabilities, CJ OliveNetworks will also seek to discover smart city business opportunities both domestically and internationally.
Kim Yuwon, CEO of Naver Cloud, stated, “We will actively pursue smart city project discovery by leveraging Team Naver’s advanced AI technologies and the Naver Cloud Platform, which can operate these technologies stably.”
Seok Sangok, CEO of Naver Labs, said, “Naver Labs already possesses digital twin technology that connects people and spaces. We will integrate urban management systems, robots, and autonomous driving technologies necessary for smart cities to be utilized in building smart cities.”
Yuin Sang, CEO of CJ OliveNetworks, said, “We will actively discover smart city projects in the future to lead changes in space and daily life based on DX and data, creating lifestyle innovations. We expect synergy in smart city projects by combining the platform owned by Naver Cloud and the technological capabilities of Naver Labs.”
Meanwhile, Naver Cloud also signed an additional agreement with CJ OliveNetworks for business cooperation on ‘HyperCLOVA X’. CJ OliveNetworks will serve as the priority partner for HyperCLOVA X, providing customized HyperCLOVA X technology services to customers, and plans to collaborate on technology and jointly operate affiliated businesses with Naver Cloud.
