Awarded Excellence in Emergency Response Training Evaluation for Strengthening Disaster Scene Ambulance Response Capabilities
The Changwon Fire Department in Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that it ranked second nationwide in the disaster site emergency response training held at the Changwon International Shooting Range.
The disaster site emergency response training is organized annually by the National Fire Agency to evaluate the emergency response and severity classification capabilities related to emergency medical services in the event of multiple casualties across 19 city and provincial fire departments nationwide. The evaluation is conducted by dividing the departments into Group 1 for city-level and Group 2 for provincial-level fire departments.
In the evaluation held last October, the Changwon Fire Department ranked second nationwide among the nine city-level departments in Group 1. They achieved high scores in clear mission execution by the first-response emergency team, dispersed transport according to severity, and the operation of on-site emergency medical centers by the head of the public health center, securing the second place.
The National Fire Agency conducts nationwide emergency response training and comprehensive emergency rescue drills annually during disaster occurrences, deploying and evaluating city and provincial fire departments.
This year’s training moved away from formal exercises to focus on practical response capabilities, and close cooperation with related organizations such as the public health center, Fatima Hospital, Hanmaeum Hospital, and Seobu Police Station enabled appropriate emergency treatment, resulting in higher scores.
Kim Yong-jin, head of the Changwon Fire Department, stated, “Effective training can only be promoted through close cooperation with related organizations in all exercises,” and added, “I sincerely thank the public health center and other related organizations, as well as the firefighters, for achieving excellent results in the training evaluation.”
