The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 29th that it held the National Essential Medicines Stable Supply Council on the 24th and newly designated six pediatric drug ingredients (seven items).
The pediatric drugs newly designated as national essential medicines this time include six ingredients such as acetaminophen and micronized budesonide. These are medicines for which a stable supply system at the national level was requested due to unstable demand and supply in recent medical settings. In addition, drug ingredients used for children with pneumonia and diarrhea were also designated as national essential medicines.
Meanwhile, 66 ingredients (70 items), including the African sleeping sickness treatment 'Suramin injection,' which are being delisted from the national essential medicines, were finally decided to be delisted by the National Essential Medicines Stable Supply Council after research projects for re-evaluation of national essential medicines, expert consultations, and public opinion collection. As a result, 408 ingredients (448 items) are designated and operated as national essential medicines.
