Songpa-gu Launches Mentoring Platform for Youth Employment and Startups

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) is launching the ‘Songpa Employment and Start-up Mentoring Platform’ service to provide practical support for employment and entrepreneurship to local youth.

The average age in Songpa-gu is 42.6 years, which is 1.4 years younger than the Seoul city average of 44 years. Additionally, Songpa-gu’s youth population is 140,000, ranking second after Gwanak-gu (160,000), establishing it as a youthful city.

Accordingly, the district is promoting the ‘Songpa Employment and Start-up Mentoring Platform’ project proposed by the Songpa Youth Network, where young people directly discover and plan policies, to provide tailored support for youth.

The district will newly operate the program by adding the start-up sector to the existing ‘Employment Mentoring Program for Job Seekers’ held at the Munjeong Biz Valley Job Hub Center.

Unlike the traditional one-to-many unilateral mentoring, mentees can directly select mentors with relevant experience in their areas of interest, ranging from one-on-one to one-to-five mentoring.

To provide customized mentoring services for each mentee, mentors include not only current professionals with specialized qualifications but also experts with extensive experience in various subfields of employment and entrepreneurship, such as professors, company CEOs, labor attorneys, and tax accountants.

When applying for lectures in the desired field or by a preferred mentor, mentoring services will be provided for two hours via non-face-to-face ZOOM sessions for convenient accessibility.

On November 27, a participant who used the mentoring platform said, “Since it was conducted one-on-one, I was able to receive customized mentoring suitable for the start-up I am preparing, which was very helpful. If given the chance, I would like to receive mentoring again from the mentor I met this time,” expressing great satisfaction with the mentoring.

Youth aged 19 to 39 residing or active in Songpa-gu can participate, and applications can be made through the Munjeong Biz Valley Job Hub Center website. For more details, contact the Songpa-gu Economic Promotion Division.

In addition, in line with the increasing youth population trend, the district actively supports youth employment and entrepreneurship through projects such as operating the ‘Munjeong Biz Valley Job Hub Center’ and ‘Songpa ICT Youth Start-up Support Center,’ the ‘Small and Medium Enterprise Youth Employment Internship Program,’ the ‘Youth Start-up Challenge Project,’ and the ‘Songpa Youth CEO Forum.’

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “I hope that the mentoring platform service will provide practical help for youth employment and start-ups by sharing experts’ knowledge and experience,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen support for youth policies to create a Songpa where young people can freely pursue their dreams.”
