Samsung Electronics has announced the release of a smartphone equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) next year, and it is reported that related trademark registrations have been made overseas.
According to the telecommunications industry on the 27th, Samsung Electronics completed the trademark registration process for 'AI Smartphone' and 'AI Phone' with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) on the 24th.
Samsung Electronics will include 'On-Device AI,' which can independently collect and process information within the device, in the Galaxy S24 series to be released early next year.
On-Device AI offers fast processing speeds because it does not need to send collected information to the cloud. It also has security advantages as it does not go through a central server.
In particular, it is known that some functions will utilize the self-generated AI model 'Samsung Gauss,' introduced earlier this month. Previously, Daniel Araujo, Head of Planning Group at Samsung Electronics MX Division (Executive Director), stated during the Q3 earnings conference call, "We will apply AI to core functions used by customers and optimize based on user patterns and preferences to provide more meaningful and innovative experiences starting next year."
Samsung Electronics will unveil the Galaxy S24 series at the first half new product launch event, 'Galaxy Unpacked.' Foreign media predict that the event is likely to be held on January 17 (local time) in San Jose, about a 12-minute drive from Cupertino, California, USA, where Apple's headquarters 'Apple Park' is located.
