According to major foreign media reports on the 27th (local time), a shooting incident occurred around 11:25 p.m. on the 25th at a house in the Wang Nam Khiao area of Nakhon Ratchasima Province in northeastern Thailand.

At the time, the wedding reception of groom Chattharung Suksuk (29) and Patchuntuak (44) was being held there. The couple had lived together for three years before deciding to marry officially and held the wedding at their home that day.

After the ceremony ended and during the reception, the groom drank alcohol and got into an argument with the bride. He then immediately retrieved a handgun from his car and killed the bride, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law. During the shooting spree, one guest was also killed and another seriously injured.

Subsequently, the groom took his own life. In total, five people died and one was injured in the incident. Eleven bullets were recovered at the scene.

The specific background of the incident is still unknown. Witnesses at the reception said, "The groom did not have a happy expression throughout."

The groom, a former soldier, lost one leg several years ago due to an accident while on duty. Last year, he competed as a national swimming representative at the ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia and won a silver medal.

Meanwhile, in Thailand, firearm ownership is allowed if legally permitted. However, after a shooting incident at the upscale Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok recently, the government has taken steps to strengthen gun control, including temporarily suspending the issuance of new firearm licenses.
