Choi said on his social media service (SNS) that "Jongno-gu and the hearts of its residents are something everyone dreams of but cannot easily approach."

Earlier that day, Ha held a press conference at the National Assembly Members' Office Building and announced, "A metropolitan party cannot be called such if it loses Jongno. Furthermore, the primary condition for winning the metropolitan general election is to defend Jongno," declaring his intention to run in Jongno. He also stated that he had sought the understanding of the incumbent Choi.
Choi said, "Protecting Jongno-gu, the 'political number one district,' is crucial for winning next year's general election," and added, "Having prepared diligently to defend Jongno-gu, I will strengthen my resolve for the upcoming election and will not lose in the competition."
