Poet Iwon's Excerpt from 'Igeoseun Sarangui Norae' (This Is a Love Song)

"Lift your heels. Create a place where the first snow will fall."

On the 27th, Kyobo Life Insurance announced that it had replaced the winter phrase to be displayed on the 'Gwanghwamun Geulpan' at its headquarters building in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

This phrase was excerpted from the poem "This is a Love Song" by poet Lee Won. Lee Won debuted in 1992 with "Literature of the World" and has received awards such as the Contemporary Poetry Award and the Modern Poetry Award. His major works include poetry collections such as "Let Love Be Born," "When They Ruled the Earth," and "The Lightest Motorcycle in the World."

Through this phrase, Kyobo Life Insurance expressed the hearts of those eagerly awaiting the coming New Year. In particular, it carries the meaning of adopting a proactive attitude, like lifting one’s heels to achieve what one desires. It also conveys a message of giving up one’s place for others and embracing consideration and generosity, like the footprints of the person ahead that become a landmark on a snowy field.

Since 1991, Kyobo Life Insurance has conveyed messages of hope and love on the Gwanghwamun Geulpan for over 30 years. This winter phrase will be displayed until the end of February next year at the Gwanghwamun Kyobo Building and Gangnam Kyobo Tower, among other locations. It can also be viewed on the Gwanghwamun Geulpan website.

A Kyobo Life Insurance official said, "We selected this phrase with the meaning of pledging a new start in the New Year with an active and proactive attitude toward life," adding, "We hope that this winter, warm interest and consideration for one another will not be spared."
