Fire-Damaged Eumseong Factory Restarts State-of-the-Art Equipment
1 Million Dozen Added, Annual Production Reaches 4 Million Dozen
Volvik, a domestic golf ball manufacturer, has completed the reconstruction of its No. 1 factory in Eumseong, Chungbuk, and has started mass production.
On the 27th, Volvik announced, "We have completed the reconstruction of the No. 1 factory, which was burned down last November," adding, "The outdated existing production facilities have been replaced with state-of-the-art equipment, significantly improving productivity." With the reconstruction of the No. 1 factory, Volvik now has a cutting-edge golf ball production plant on a 14,876㎡ site, including the No. 2 factory completed in 2019. Including 2 million dozen produced at the No. 1 and No. 2 factories in Eumseong, Chungbuk, and 2 million dozen from outsourced factories, the company can produce 4 million dozen annually, which is among the highest production capacities in the world.
The No. 1 factory produces the core. This process involves thermoforming a core with excellent resilience using synthetic rubber. The quality of 3- to 4-piece premium balls has been significantly upgraded. The No. 2 factory applies dimple covers, glossy and matte coatings, printing, and packaging processes to produce finished products. Volvik stated, "With the reconstruction of the No. 1 factory as a milestone, we will advance as a true golf brand recognized domestically and internationally for excellent performance and quality."
