Nurse Leaps Over Reception Desk to Save Collapsed Child After Hearing "Help" Shout

Rushed to ER in 20 Seconds Carrying 20kg Child
"Arm Hurt for Days but It Was Worth It"

A video showing a nurse at a children's hospital in China jumping over the reception desk and running to save a child has gone viral.

According to local media including the Chinese newspaper Renmin Ribao (People's Daily) on the 26th, a 6-year-old girl visited a children's hospital in Wuhan, China, with her grandmother on the 17th.

While waiting in the outpatient venipuncture room for treatment, the child suddenly started having a febrile seizure, rolling her eyes and foaming at the mouth. The startled grandmother shouted loudly, "Help!"

Two nurses on duty at the time heard the grandmother's urgent voice and, without even looking for an exit, immediately jumped over the reception desk like vaulting over a horse and ran toward the source of the noise. Seeing the child's lips turn black, one nurse quickly scooped up the child and rushed to the emergency room.

It took only 20 seconds for the nurse to jump over the reception desk and carry the child, who weighed over 20 kg, to the emergency room. The nurse said, "Without a second of hesitation, the instinct to rescue quickly came out."

She added, "At that moment, there was no time to think about the child's weight; all I thought about was getting her to the emergency room quickly," and told the media, "My arm hurt for three days afterward, but it was definitely worth it."

The child received prompt treatment including oxygen therapy and sputum suction upon arrival at the emergency room and recovered normally. It is reported that the child's parents later expressed their gratitude to the hospital.
