On the 24th, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced that customs officer A was booked without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and obstructing official duties by deception.

With the booking of officer A, the total number of customs officers under police investigation for allegedly allowing Malaysian syndicate members of the multinational drug organization to enter the country without passing through airport security checkpoints has reached five.

The police are conducting an investigation into customs based on statements from the apprehended Malaysian syndicate members. The customs officers deny the allegations and have been uncooperative with the investigation. Accordingly, the police conducted searches and seizures of CCTV footage, on-site inspections, mobile phones, and communications related to the four officers previously booked.

Earlier, the police conducted two searches at Incheon Airport and carried out three on-site inspections. The suspects identified the same officers as those who assisted them at the scene, and officer A, who was newly booked, was among those identified at that time.
