The Social Service Group of Yeungjin College (Director Professor Cha Bohyun) carried out a kimchi-making volunteer activity on the 24th to share warm love with local neighbors in preparation for the winter season.
On this day, about 40 participants including enrolled students, faculty and staff, and international students took part in making kimchi at the Daebul Senior Welfare Center in Buk-gu, Daegu.
The social service group, composed of students and staff members of Yeongjin College, is taking a commemorative photo while delivering kimchi to neighbors in need.
The students delivered 5kg of the kimchi they made to 100 households of single elderly people and residents of small rooms near the university in Sangyeok-dong and Bokhyeon-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu.
The college's Social Service Group also conducts activities such as the "Geumho River Restoration Environmental Protection Campaign," Daegu's lifeline, and the "Single-use Item Recycling Campaign," each held once in the first and second half of the year, with participation from faculty and students to respond to global environmental changes.
Additionally, they engage in various social service activities with local neighbors, including participation in hematopoietic stem cell donation and blood donation.
Yeungjin College established the Social Service Group in 1997, the first among nationwide junior colleges, to cultivate students' character and lead the practice of humanitarianism, actively participating in overseas volunteer work as well as domestic activities.
Professor Cha Bohyun, director of the Yeungjin College Social Service Group (Department of Social Welfare), said, "We hope that the kimchi our volunteer group prepared with sincerity will help the local neighbors in need to spend the winter warmly and healthily."
