Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, held the opening ceremony of the Yeongdeok-gun Silver Welfare Center operated by the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Daegu Haany University (Director Hwang Se-jin) on the 22nd.
The event was attended by Yeongdeok-gun Governor Kim Gwang-yeol, Hwang Se-jin, Director of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Daegu Haany University, Son Deok-su, Chairman of the Yeongdeok-gun Council, and others, proceeding with a progress report, congratulatory speeches, ribbon-cutting ceremony, and facility tour.
The Yeongdeok-gun Silver Welfare Center has a total floor area of 1,034㎡, consisting of one basement floor and one above-ground floor, equipped with convenience facilities such as a restaurant, physical therapy room, and health promotion room. After a review in June, the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Daegu Haany University was selected as the entrusted institution, and the center has been operating on a pilot basis since starting member recruitment on the 25th of last month.
The Silver Welfare Center implements programs and education to address local community issues such as increasing elderly diseases, lack of elderly socialization, and regional extinction. In particular, it will promote various projects for elderly welfare, including health promotion based on traditional Korean medicine from Daegu Haany University and specialized counseling for dementia and suicide prevention.
Governor Kim Gwang-yeol said, “By selecting Daegu Haany University as the entrusted institution, we expect to take a step forward toward a welfare Yeongdeok that guarantees a vibrant and happy elderly life through stable operation of the Silver Welfare Center and various elderly welfare services based on Korean medicine.”
