‘This Year’s Gumi Defense Venture Center Partner Companies Workshop’ Held
A Platform for Business and Technology Information Exchange, Enhancing Local Companies' Competitiveness
On the 23rd, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk held the ‘2023 Gumi Defense Venture Center Partner Companies Workshop’ at Hotel Geumosan.
Hosted by the Gumi Defense Venture Center, about 90 participants attended, including representatives and executives from the Gyeongbuk·Gumi Defense Innovation Cluster Project Group, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration One-Stop Corporate Support Center, and partner companies.
The workshop proceeded in the order of ▲Gumi Defense Venture Center’s 2023 achievements and 2024 plans ▲Introduction of the Gyeongbuk·Gumi Defense Innovation Cluster Project ▲Introduction of Defense Acquisition Program Administration’s defense company support projects ▲Introduction and greetings of participating companies.
Attendees spent time enhancing the participation of defense companies in the Gumi area in defense projects, strengthening cooperative networks, improving technological competitiveness, and management capabilities through business and technology information exchange. In particular, they shared participation methods, support benefits, and promotion directions for the Gyeongbuk·Gumi Defense Innovation Cluster Project selected this year, contributing to the successful advancement of the defense innovation cluster.
The Gumi Defense Venture Center supports defense companies’ technology development costs through technology transfer support projects and defense venture support projects, and assists in obtaining management and intellectual property certifications. It strives to promote the participation and market development of local small and medium-sized venture companies in defense projects, activate cooperative networks among defense-related institutions, increase sales, create jobs, and revitalize the regional economy.
Notably, ‘QS’ (CEO Yoon Young-ho), a partner company attending this workshop, achieved tangible results such as receiving the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award recommended by the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Venture Association through active support from the Gumi Defense Venture Center.
Gumi City is receiving good news for the local defense industry, including the selection of the defense innovation cluster, the imminent large-scale export contract of LIG Nex1’s Saudi Cheongung-II, and investment attraction by Qunion. The city is committed to realizing ‘K-Defense New Industry Capital Gumi’ by establishing a sustainable defense unmanned-manned complex system ecosystem, attracting defense anchor institutions, creating defense testing and demonstration infrastructure, and supporting research and development expenses.
