The Korea Communications Standards Commission announced on the 23rd that it will take measures to prevent the distribution of illegal and harmful information with overseas platform operators.
On the same day, the Commission held a cooperation meeting with Google and Meta to address issues such as thumbnail portrait rights infringement and advertisements inducing stock investment by impersonating celebrities.
The operators expressed their understanding of the purpose of communication review and self-regulation and agreed to cooperate by applying their own community guidelines and strengthening monitoring. In addition, filtering of drug-related searches and cooperation on self-regulation measures for harmful information such as profanity on YouTube were also discussed.
The Commission stated, "Through continuous cooperation with overseas operators, we will convey communication review policies and cases, and collect various opinions to ensure that reasonable self-regulation can be established."
