On the 23rd, Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk announced that it will operate the ‘Gyeongcheon Starlight Night Tour’ from the 25th to the 26th in the Sunchang-eup area, including the Gaksa and Hyanggyo.
The ‘Gyeongcheon Starlight Night Tour,’ launched for the first time this year, is based on the nighttime experiential tourism project created around Sunchang Hyanggyo and the Gaksa, a tangible cultural asset of Jeollabuk-do, and was planned to offer visitors to Sunchang a special memory.
Since the 8th term of the local government, the county has been striving to revitalize stay-type nighttime tourism, and this program was prepared to attract external tourists based on the attractive nighttime scenery of Sunchang-gun.
In particular, this tour program, which is only available to non-residents, showed explosive popularity, with early closure before the recruitment deadline.
The tour will be held for two days on the weekend from the 25th to the 26th, targeting a total of 600 people, 300 people per day. Tourists will start at the Gaksa with a cultural tourism guide, stroll along the Gyeongcheon riverside, explore the Hyanggyo, and then participate in play programs at the Fermentation Theme Park.
Through the “Ghost CatchGo Treasure HuntGo” event held with the Sunchang Fermentation Tourism Foundation, visitors will have the opportunity to experience high-quality Sunchang specialties, and various attractions such as magic shows, a six-member band, and busking performances are also prepared.
Choi Young-il, the mayor of Sunchang-gun, said, “Instead of going home immediately after the night tour, staying overnight in Sunchang and visiting representative tourist spots such as Gangcheonsan, Chaegyesan, and Yonggwolsan the next day will complete a satisfying trip,” adding, “We expect this night city tour to firmly establish itself as stay-type tourism content and play a significant role in revitalizing the local economy.”
