Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do has installed public Wi-Fi at senior centers and sports facilities mainly used by village residents.
According to the county on the 23rd, this public Wi-Fi installation was promoted as part of the Ministry of Science and ICT's '2023 Public Wi-Fi Construction Project.'
The installation is handled by the Ministry of Science and ICT, and Jangseong-gun bears the cost of the usage line fees.

Initially, applications were made to build public Wi-Fi at all 342 senior centers and 6 sports facilities, but this year, the project was confirmed only for 156 senior centers and sports facilities.
The county evenly distributed the public Wi-Fi construction across all towns and townships, effectively resolving data usage inconveniences.
To install public Wi-Fi at the remaining 182 senior centers as well, the county plans to apply for the project again to the Ministry of Science and ICT next year and secure the county budget in advance to cover the line fees.
Mr. Kang Chun-mae (73), a senior citizen from Donghwa-myeon, said, "In the past, I was cautious about using my phone because of data charges, but since the public Wi-Fi was installed, the time I spend video calling with my grandchildren has increased significantly."
A county official said, "As the number of seniors using smartphones increases, building public data at senior centers has become a part of welfare. We will strive to ensure that public Wi-Fi is installed at all senior centers without delay by next year."
