Korea Yumicoa began investing in domestic production facilities in 1999, established a company-affiliated research institute in 2006, and from 2020, made large-scale R&D investments to strengthen its position as a global leader in the cathode material sector and achieve higher qualitative growth. In 2022, it completed a technology research institute in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, establishing it as the Yumicoa Group’s global R&D hub for secondary battery materials.

President Son stated, “This precious occasion today is thanks to the Yumicoa employees who have worked with one heart from the moment we first produced secondary battery materials over 20 years ago until now. I am very pleased and honored that their hard work and dedication have been recognized,” adding, “Yumicoa will continue to do its best to become a company that contributes to society with a positive influence that considers society, cares for the environment, and respects future generations.”

Meanwhile, during President Yoon Seok-yeol’s overseas trip in June, Yumicoa reported investments to expand its domestic cathode material production plant and research and development (R&D) center at the European regional investment declaration ceremony held in Paris, France. The total investment amount pledged by Yumicoa and six other advanced European companies at the investment declaration ceremony reached approximately 1.2 trillion KRW (940 million USD).
