On the 23rd, Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station announced that it conducted a comprehensive emergency rescue drill on the 22nd at the Gwangju Postal Distribution Center located in Ssangam-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
This drill was organized to strengthen the emergency rescue capabilities of emergency rescue agencies in disaster preparedness and to enhance the mutual cooperation and response system among related organizations and groups.
On the day of the drill, more than 250 personnel from 17 organizations and groups, including the Gwangsan Volunteer Fire Brigade, Gwangsan District Office, Gwangsan District Public Health Center, Gwangsan Police Station, 31st Division Gwangsan Battalion, and Korea Electric Power Corporation, participated, with 40 pieces of equipment mobilized.
The drill was conducted under the assumption of a complex disaster scenario involving a magnitude 5.4 earthquake near the Gwangju Postal Distribution Center in Gwangsan-gu, causing building collapse, hazardous chemical leaks, and multiple casualties due to a large fire.
The main training contents included ▲division of roles and mastery of command and control by the Emergency Rescue Control Team ▲strengthening disaster response capabilities of emergency rescue agencies and support agencies ▲establishing an integrated command system at the disaster site through organic cooperation among related organizations ▲and enhancing the operation capabilities of on-site emergency medical stations.
Kim Young-il, Chief of Gwangsan Fire Station, stated, “Through regular drills, we will develop the ability to respond to various disaster sites and do our best to protect the lives and property of citizens.”
