World No. 3 Rahm 'Transferring to LIV Golf?'

US Palm Beach Post Reports $600 Million Transfer
Recent TGL Withdrawal Led by Woods and McIlroy
Possible Failure to Amend Match Format Demands

World No. 3 Jon Rahm (Spain) is reported to be moving to LIV Golf.

The Palm Beach Post in the United States reported on the 22nd (local time) that "Rahm is expected to transfer to LIV Golf for $600 million (approximately 781.8 billion KRW)." Additionally, the New York Post conveyed that Phil Mickelson (USA) told golf journalist Alan Shipnuck that "Rahm has already signed with LIV Golf." The outlet predicted that Rahm will play as co-captain on the Fireballs Golf Club team, captained by Sergio Garcia (Spain).

World No. 3 Rahm 'Transferring to LIV Golf?' Jon Rahm

If Rahm moves to LIV Golf, the PGA Tour will suffer a significant blow. He is a star who has won 11 times on the PGA Tour, including two major championships: the 2021 US Open and this year's Masters. Rahm had previously received transfer offers from LIV Golf but remained firm in his preference for the PGA Tour.

Rumors of Rahm's move to LIV Golf surfaced earlier this month when he was excluded from the TGL, a screen golf league led by Tiger Woods (USA) and Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland). Rahm also declined an offer to serve as a director on the PGA Tour Policy Board, a position vacated by McIlroy's resignation.

However, there are expectations that Rahm's transfer to LIV Golf may not clear the final hurdle. It is reported that he has set a condition to join only if LIV Golf changes its ‘54-hole no-cut’ format, which currently does not award any world ranking points. Rahm is also dissatisfied with LIV Golf’s shotgun tee-off format. It is anticipated that Rahm will transfer only if the basic format of LIV Golf is altered.
