Convenience Facilities Installed Including Foot Washing Stations and Shoe Racks

In four neighborhood parks in Suji-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, 'Earthing paths' where people can walk barefoot will be created on some walking trails. Earthing is a healing method that involves walking barefoot to absorb the energy generated from the Earth's surface into the body.

Yongin City announced on the 23rd that it plans to create Earthing paths in four locations: Seobong Forest Neighborhood Park in Sanghyeon-dong, Suji Central Park in Seongbok-dong, Sosilbong Neighborhood Park in Sanghyeon-dong, and Suji Ecological Park in Sinbong-dong.

For Seobong Forest Neighborhood Park in the 1151 area of Sanghyeon-dong, 40 million won will be invested by the end of the year to lay forest soil on a 200-meter section of the walking trail connected to the forest path, and convenience facilities such as foot washing stations and shoe racks will be installed.

An Earthing path will also be created on the site of Suji Central Park at 314-4 Seongbok-dong. Although the park is still under development, many residents use the 2 km section between Seongbok Middle School and Sinbong High School within the site as a walking trail. Considering this, the city plans to invest 10 million won to maintain about 200 meters of this section as a barefoot walking path.

The city also plans to create Earthing paths next year in Sosilbong Neighborhood Park in the 1198 area of Sanghyeon-dong and Suji Ecological Park in the 877 area of Sinbong-dong. In particular, while creating the barefoot walking path in Sosilbong Neighborhood Park, a canopy will be installed so that residents can enjoy walking regardless of the weather. For Suji Ecological Park, part of the Gwanggyosan mountain trail will be maintained to create an Earthing path.

A city official explained, "Recently, there have been many requests from citizens to create barefoot walking paths, so we decided to maintain some existing walking trails in the parks."
