National Gwangju Science Museum 'Exciting World of Cars' Special Exhibition

The National Gwangju Science Museum will hold a special automobile exhibition titled "Exciting World of Cars" in the first-floor special exhibition hall from the 24th of this month until March 3rd next year, to celebrate the winter vacation season.

In the "Car Story" zone, which showcases the evolution process since the invention of the automobile, visitors can explore important events in automotive history and the history of cars in Korea through various vehicles and interactive experiences.


Actual vehicles such as the three-wheeled cars from the 60s and 70s, Pony taxis, and Tico are on display, and there are also experiential programs where visitors can encounter vintage cars through models, videos, and augmented reality (AR).


The "Secrets of Cars" zone, where visitors can examine the scientific principles behind automobiles, exhibits various car parts, a cutaway model of an electric vehicle, the structural components of internal combustion engine cars, and crash test vehicles actually used for automobile safety evaluations. Visitors can also experience steering and tire handling, as well as try repairing cars at the kids' car repair shop.


In the "Car Playground" zone, which offers various play experiences, visitors can enjoy extreme off-road racing, kids driving, mini car races, racing simulators, creating their own cars with bricks, and designing future cars that they imagine.


A racing photo zone where visitors can hold a winner’s cup and capture memories, as well as a car library with various traffic signs and automobile-related books, are also prepared.


The "Evolution of Cars" zone, which discusses the future of automobiles, displays cutaway models of hydrogen cars and hydrogen charging stations, autonomous vehicles, flying future cars, and future cars designed with innovative concepts. Visitors can also experience the future of cars in advance through a virtual reality (VR) autonomous driving simulator.
