‘2023 Han-Segyehwa Sang Business Week’ Begins Four-Day Journey
Mayor Hong Nampyo: “Will Use as a Valuable Stepping Stone for Overseas Market Expansion”
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 23rd that the '2023 Korea-World Chinese Business Week (hereinafter referred to as the event),' which will serve as a platform for business exchanges between global Chinese merchants and domestic companies, has begun its four-day journey starting with the opening of the exhibition hall at the Changwon Convention Center.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, is delivering a greeting at the opening ceremony of the Global Online Business Week.
Co-hosted by Changwon City, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, the Korea Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and the Korea Bu-Ul-Gyeong Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and supported by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Public Procurement Service, the Small and Medium Business Corporation, the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, and the Korea International Trade Association, this event aims to establish business relationships and expand trade between Chinese merchants with strong economic power in the Southeast Asian market and Korean companies.
From November 22 to 25, over four days, under the slogan "Coexistence and Prosperity, Towards the World!", the event features ▲ opening and closing ceremonies ▲ corporate exhibitions ▲ business events ▲ conferences ▲ and industrial site visits.
Domestically, more than 200 companies in hydrogen, environment, bio, energy, including Beomhan Purecell, Daegun Tech, KCMT, and STS Robotech, filled the exhibition hall to showcase various technologies, products, and brands.
In line with this, over 170 chairpersons and businesspeople from 11 Chinese chambers of commerce in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Canada, and Japan visited Changwon to meet outstanding Korean companies, hoping to expand human and technological exchanges with Korean firms.
On the first day of the event, the 'Future Cooperation Forum' will be held under the theme "Global Economy, Opening the Door to the Future." Speakers include Choi Heung-jin, President of the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute; Jang Sung-wook, Vice President of Kakao Mobility; Jo Seong-jun, Executive Director of Doosan Enerbility; Son Seong-woo, Executive Director of STX; and Tan Sri Oh Myung-jang, Chairman of Malaysia's BGMC Group, who will explore mutual development plans between Korea and Chinese merchants.
The second day features the 'Leaders Forum.' Chaired by Shim Sang-hyung, Research Fellow at POSCO Research Institute, presenters include Chae Gwan-sim, Chairman of Hong Kong's Xinhua Group & Vietnam's VinaCapital, and Hwang Deuk-gyu, Advisor at Samsung Electronics, sharing success strategies of leaders driving the global economy.
On the same day, the 'World Young Entrepreneurs Forum' will be held, where young entrepreneurs from Korea and Chinese merchants share future visions. Next-generation executives from home and abroad are expected to actively network and exchange information through a networking party.
On the third day, the 'New Tech Global Industry Forum' will take place under the theme "Global New Tech Outlook and Leading Strategies." Speakers include Kim Jung-bin, CEO of Superbin, a startup specializing in waste collection and recycling through circular resource recovery robots, and Lee Hyun-jae, Director of Woowa Brothers, operator of Baedal Minjok.
As this event is a B2B event, various programs for business matching between companies have been prepared. Many companies participate in one-on-one business consultations, investment briefings, project presentations, corporate briefings, and PR shows, expecting to enter the global market by establishing new business cooperation with Chinese merchants.
Additionally, industrial site visits that offer a glimpse into Korea's advanced companies are conducted. Doosan Enerbility, Taerim Industry, Muhak, and STS Robotech will showcase their corporate sites to Chinese merchants.
On the final day of the event, the 25th, the four-day schedule concludes with cultural tourism where participants can enjoy Korean culture. Chinese merchants will embark on cultural tours to domestic attractions such as Namhae in Gyeongnam and Tongdosa Temple in Yangsan through prior registration.
The opening ceremony held on the 22nd was attended by Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City; Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do; members of the National Assembly; members of Changwon City and Gyeongnam Provincial Councils; representatives from supporting organizations; and over 170 Chinese merchant companies and domestic participants, celebrating the event.
The 2023 Korea-World Chinese Business Week is a business event officially approved for hosting by the conveners of the World Chinese Business Conference (Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand Chinese Chambers of Commerce) in May 2021. Following the 2020 online event, this is the first offline event to be held.
At the opening ceremony, Mayor Hong said, "The chairpersons of the world Chinese merchants have come to Changwon for business exchanges with Korean companies," adding, "Through this opportunity, we will attract Chinese capital investment in Changwon's companies, technologies, and talents, and use it as a valuable stepping stone for domestic companies to enter overseas markets."
