Cheongsong County Youth Center Achieves Four Crowns at This Year's Gyeongbuk Provincial Youth Volunteer Competition

Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province announced that the Cheongsong-gun Youth Center achieved a remarkable feat by winning four awards at the ‘2023 Gyeongbuk Province Youth Volunteer Competition’ held at Andong Grand Hotel on November 17.

The ‘Gyeongbuk Province Youth Volunteer Competition’ was organized to recognize individuals, clubs, and leaders affiliated with youth in Gyeongbuk Province who have made significant contributions through volunteer activities. At the event, the Cheongsong-gun Youth Center received awards in the individual category with student ‘Jo Hyun-jun’ (Cheongsong Middle School) winning the Grand Prize (Governor of Gyeongbuk Award), and student ‘Park Ji-eun’ (Cheongsong Girls' High School) winning the Excellence Award (Governor of Gyeongbuk Award). In the club category, the ‘Happy Volunteer Club’ and the ‘100 Years of Empathy Club’ both received the Excellence Award (Governor of Gyeongbuk Award).


The ‘Happy Volunteer Club’ is a youth volunteer club that, through regular meetings, takes the lead in youth volunteer activities by planning, executing, and managing volunteer work aimed at contributing to community development and environmental preservation. They operate booths at the Cheongsong Apple Festival and youth events and participate in campaigns for youth protection.


Additionally, the ‘100 Years of Empathy Club’ learns about the history of anti-Japanese independence activists and militia through research and visits to independence movement sites and historical sites. They plan and participate in various activities aimed at revitalizing the historical sites related to the anti-Japanese militia and independence movement.


The students who received awards on the day shared their thoughts, saying, “Through volunteer activities, we were able to help others and participate as members of society, gaining diverse experiences that greatly contributed to our personal growth.”


Governor Yoon Kyung-hee congratulated the four-time winners of the Gyeongbuk Province Youth Volunteer Competition and stated, “We will continue to provide a foundation for local youth to develop their infinite potential through volunteer activities in various fields.”
