The "Seoul Companion Job Project" is a program aimed at providing direct employment to the unemployed and low-income vulnerable employment groups to support their livelihood and help them become self-reliant.
The recruitment covers 34 projects including meal support at free meal centers, library cleaning projects, park maintenance, and Anyangcheon riverside maintenance projects. It is promoted as a "self-help" based project where participants who are vulnerable themselves help others in similar situations.
Eligibility requirements are Geumcheon-gu residents aged 18 or older with work ability as of the project start date (January 10, 2024), who are ▲ unemployed or daily workers without regular income, and ▲ whose total household property listed on the resident registration certificate is 469 million KRW or less. Detailed eligibility criteria, working conditions, and application forms can be found in the "Notices & Announcements" section on the Geumcheon-gu Office website.
Residents wishing to participate can apply by visiting their local community service center with identification, application form, and consent form for personal information collection and use. However, recipients of unemployment benefits and those whose household combined income exceeds 80% of the median income are not eligible to participate.
Geumcheon-gu will review applicants’ property status, number of dependents, number of times participated in public jobs, and exclusion criteria, and announce the results on January 5, 2024, in the "Geumcheon News" section of the Geumcheon-gu Office website. Final successful candidates will be notified individually by the project department.
The final successful candidates will work at each project site from January 10 to June 30, 2024. They will work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, and receive a daily wage of 56,000 KRW including meal allowance. However, participants aged 65 or older will work 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, and receive a daily wage of 36,000 KRW including meal allowance.
Additionally, participants will be mandatorily enrolled in the four major social insurances and will receive safety and labor education, sexual harassment prevention education, workplace bullying prevention education, and health checkups for safety and health management.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, "We plan to provide quality jobs to vulnerable groups and strengthen participants’ employment capabilities through employment counseling and job fairs," adding, "We will continue to expand various job opportunities to contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
