It is known that bedbugs appeared in mid-last month, biting the resident's arms and legs. The resident conducted self-disinfection but reported to the quarantine authorities after bedbugs appeared again.
Busan City officially confirmed the presence of one bedbug. Saha-gu plans to establish a bedbug control system by investing 15.7 million won in contingency funds to purchase steamers and chemicals. Officials from Saha-gu stated, "When a bedbug report is received, a extermination team will be sent to the site to verify and then carry out disinfection," adding, "For vulnerable facilities such as small rooms or homeless shelters where self-control is difficult, the public health center will respond."
Meanwhile, according to Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, from 2009 to 2019, there were only about 20 bedbug-related reports nationwide over approximately 10 years. However, in the past month alone, more than 30 bedbug reports have been received nationwide. It is also known that bedbug reports have been filed in more than half of the districts in Seoul.
