"Result of Struggling to Secure External Funding"
Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced on the 20th that 65 projects promoted by the district were selected in public contests hosted by central government ministries and the Seoul Metropolitan Government this year, securing a total of 18.6 billion KRW in external funding.
The district evaluated this result as a reflection of proactive administration practiced by all departments for regional development and residents' happiness. Compared to last year's 32 projects and 5.5 billion KRW, the number of selected projects doubled, and the secured budget increased more than threefold.
The selected fields include 26 projects in economy and jobs, 16 in welfare and culture, 10 in housing and environment, 7 in education, and 6 in smart administration, covering core projects of the 8th elected term and local issues evenly across various sectors.
Major examples include ▲ fostering Sinchon commercial district as Seoul’s representative K-Alley and global commercial district (Seoul Local Brand Commercial District Strengthening Project Contest) ▲ developing a safe residential environment design in the densely single-person household area of Changcheon-dong (Seoul Crime Prevention Infrastructure Establishment Project Contest) ▲ providing integrated family care youth services, the only project selected among Seoul’s autonomous districts (Ministry of Health and Welfare Daily Care Service Project Contest).
Additionally, achievements were made in contests for resident-centered services based on 4th Industrial Revolution technologies, such as ▲ development and distribution of demand-tailored service robots ▲ development of smart welfare and safety service improvement models for eup, myeon, and dong administrative units ▲ establishment of a high-speed missing person search system based on AI CCTV.
In particular, Seodaemun-gu’s pioneering project, ‘Smart Safety Management Service for Semi-basement Households Using Internet of Things (IoT) Sensor Technology,’ was selected as a ‘Seoul Citizen Experience Service Pilot Project,’ and was installed free of charge in 300 semi-basement households in the district. It also received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the ‘Regional Informatization Research Project Presentation Competition.’
Mayor Lee Seong-heon said, “When promoting various projects for residents, there are limits to relying solely on district finances, so our staff’s hard work and challenges to secure external funding have borne good fruit. This will greatly help bring changes in district administration across various fields and provide higher-level administrative services.”
