Applications for Next Year's National Scholarship Open from the 22nd... Full Tuition Support for Basic Livelihood Security Recipients and Lower-Income Brackets

Applications Accepted from the 22nd to December 27th

From the 22nd, the first application period for the 2024 academic year first semester National Scholarship will begin.

The Ministry of Education and the Korea Student Aid Foundation announced on the 20th that applications for the first round of the 2024 academic year first semester National Scholarship will be accepted from 9 a.m. on the 22nd until 6 p.m. on the 27th of next month.

The National Scholarship is an income-linked scholarship provided by the government to students who meet the academic criteria among university students in the 8th or lower income brackets to alleviate the burden of tuition fees. The income bracket for financial aid is determined based on the monthly recognized income calculated from the income, assets, and debts of the student, parents, and spouse.

Next year, the benefits of the National Scholarship will be further expanded, providing full tuition support for all children of basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups. Until this year, only the second and subsequent children received full tuition support, while the first child was supported up to 7 million KRW. The support amount for income brackets 1 to 3 will increase by 9.6% (500,000 KRW), and for brackets 4 to 6 by 7.7% (300,000 KRW) compared to this year. Accordingly, the maximum annual support amount for brackets 1 to 3 will rise from 5.2 million KRW to 5.7 million KRW, and for brackets 4 to 6 from 3.9 million KRW to 4.2 million KRW.

Applicants for the National Scholarship must agree to provide household member information and submit the necessary documents by 6 p.m. on January 3rd of next year. Application results can be checked on the Korea Student Aid Foundation website.
