Hurim Robot Enters 'IDC' Market Based on AI Semiconductor Technology

Three companies of Hurim Group (Hurim Robot, Hurim Networks, and Paratech) are embarking on the construction of a next-generation data center that integrates advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and 5G. Hurim Group announced on the 20th that it has signed an investment agreement to build the 800 billion KRW-scale data center, "Hurim AIDC (Advanced Internet Data Center)," in Wonju, Gangwon Province.

Hurim AIDC plans to apply AI semiconductor technology. Through this, it is expected to optimize load balancing within the data center and minimize power consumption. Based on chip-to-chip communication technology, a demand-customized environment will be established to implement services expandable by application, showcasing a differentiated next-generation data center.

Various technologies possessed by Hurim Group companies will also be utilized. Hurim Robot will apply advanced robotics technology to minimize management personnel and ultimately build a robot automation system capable of unmanned operation within the server space. Hurim Networks, which owns 5G technology, will work on implementing a stable communication environment including specialized networks. Paratech plans to build an IDC safe from fire hazards through firefighting robots and fire prevention and disaster mitigation technologies.

Won Gang-su, mayor of Wonju who participated in the agreement ceremony, said, “We are striving to develop future industries such as AI semiconductors and the data industry centered around Wonju,” and added, “We will spare no effort to provide full support so that related business entities can smoothly carry out their projects in the future.”

Kim Bong-gwan, CEO of Hurim Robot, emphasized, “As AI technology advances, demand for services is rapidly increasing,” and said, “We will build a customized IDC that meets the needs of users through the convergence of robotics, 5G specialized networks, and AI semiconductors.” He added, “We will establish a data center that will be a source of pride not only for Hurim Group but also for the citizens of Wonju.”
