Jungnang-gu '2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter' Love Fruit Temperature Tower Unveiling Ceremony

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) held a Love Fruit Temperature Tower unveiling ceremony in the lobby of the district office on the morning of the 17th, marking the start of the ‘2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’.

The ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ is a representative winter neighbor-helping project where residents collect donations or goods to support neighbors in need within the community. Fundraising will continue until February 14 next year, and the Love Fruit Temperature Tower’s temperature rises by 1 degree (℃) each time 1% of the target amount is raised, reaching 100 degrees upon achieving the goal.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by about 80 people, including Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, district council members, Shin Hye-young, Secretary General of the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, heads of local welfare organizations, chairpersons of the local social security council, and the association of community leaders. The event featured the unveiling of the Love Temperature Tower and a donation relay.

Notably, at this event, the staff and parents of the Jungnang-gu Office Workplace Daycare Center delivered donations collected bit by bit, becoming the first donors of the ‘2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “We ask for residents’ great interest and participation so that the Love Fruit Temperature Tower can exceed 100 degrees again this year through overflowing neighborly love,” adding, “Jungnang-gu will also carefully look after every corner of the community so that no one is left out and everyone can spend the cold winter warmly.”

From November last year to three months into this year, Jungnang-gu’s ‘2023 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ exceeded its target by about 8%, achieving a record-high fundraising amount of approximately 1.77 billion won. The donations and goods collected from the hearts of residents are delivered every year to welfare centers or vulnerable households and neighbors in need.
