Training Local Instructors Connecting School Communities, Creating Educational Jobs, and More
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that it won the Excellence Award, the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award, at the 19th Korea Local Autonomy Management Competition held at KINTEX in Goyang on the 16th.
The Korea Local Autonomy Management Competition, hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, is a contest for local governments to showcase excellent policies aimed at improving the quality of life of local residents and promoting national development through creative policy development.
The 19th Local Autonomy Management Competition saw participation from many local governments despite difficult social and economic conditions domestically and internationally, and after evaluation, 32 outstanding local governments were honored with awards.
Gokseong-gun trained local instructors to operate village education programs connecting schools and communities, achieving results by creating new educational jobs in various fields linked to school curricula.
This success is thanks to Gokseong’s unique specialized education system nurtured by the local community centered around the Future Education Foundation.
Gokseong-gun operated a job-specialized education program at the Dream Play School to train local parents and women with career interruptions, forming a pool of professional personnel.
Six instructors for tree climbing and rope play, which link Gokseong’s forest resources with elementary school curricula, were trained.
STEAM instructors were organized into a professional pool (3 main instructors, 3 assistant instructors) by conducting basic and advanced courses, special training, and professional coding certification courses.
In addition, 11 village history instructors and 90 ecological garden farmers were trained, with some graduates currently working as school instructors.
Furthermore, 14 local instructors are utilized to provide one-on-one remedial education for children with low basic academic skills, supporting inclusive and thorough education without exclusion.
Governor Lee Sang-cheol said, “We will make further efforts to overcome regional extinction and create a sustainable educational ecosystem by expanding specialized education programs in the forest and ecological job sectors.”
