According to the county on the 17th, the Climate Change Vulnerable Groups and Regional Support Project selected 61 basic local governments nationwide, including 8 local governments in Jeollanam-do, among them Yeonggwang-gun.

The project consists of 2 types: a heat-reflective paint coating project for vulnerable facilities and a heatwave response shelter creation project. As the frequency and damage of abnormal climate events such as heatwaves increase, this project aims to minimize damage to vulnerable groups with relatively insufficient coping ability and maximize climate resilience effects.

Kang Jong-man, Governor of Yeonggwang-gun, said, "Damage caused by increasingly severe abnormal climate conditions is more pronounced among vulnerable groups and areas such as the elderly, children, disabled persons, and elderly living alone," adding, "We will expand support for the installation of adaptation infrastructure suitable for these vulnerable types to prevent such damage and build a dense social safety net."
