Cheongsong-gun Holds the 28th Farmers' Day Commemoration Event

‘Cheongsong Future Agriculture Innovation Forum’ Successfully Concluded

On the 17th, Cheongsong County in Gyeongbuk held the ‘28th Farmers' Day’ commemorative ceremony at the Cheongsong Culture and Arts Center Grand Performance Hall, hosted by the Cheongsong County Agricultural Organizations Council (President Gwak Dong-ju).

The legal holiday ‘Farmers' Day’ is a day to inspire pride and self-esteem among farmers and to reflect on the importance of agriculture. About 500 people, including Yoon Kyung-hee, the governor of Cheongsong County, Kwon Tae-jun, chairman of the Cheongsong County Council, provincial and county council members, heads of various institutions and organizations, and farmers, attended the event in great numbers.


Starting with a pre-ceremony performance, the first part of the event included the presentation of awards to 15 agricultural development contributors in nine categories, including the Songam Kim In-hwan Award, and commendations from the governor, members of the National Assembly, and the county governor, marking the “28th Farmers' Day Commemorative Ceremony.” In the afternoon, the second part of the event continued with the “Cheongsong Future Agriculture Innovation Forum.”


Under the theme “The Path Cheongsong Agriculture Should Take,” the forum began with a keynote speech by Governor Yoon Kyung-hee, followed by presentations from Yoon Jong-rok, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning; Min Seung-gyu, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs; Yoon Tae-myung, director of the Apple Research Institute at Kyungpook National University; and Kim Jong-du, chairman of the Cheongsong Nonghyup. The forum was moderated by Kim Byung-won, chairman of the Korea Life Science Technology Institute, and proceeded as a discussion on the overall state of Cheongsong agriculture.


Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, “Despite the difficult agricultural conditions this year due to abnormal low temperatures, hail, rising prices of agricultural materials, and global economic instability, I express my gratitude and consolation to the farmers who have wisely overcome these crises. I hope this Cheongsong Agriculture Innovation Forum will serve as a good opportunity for Cheongsong agriculture to take a leap forward, and I will do my best to realize a competitive and sustainable future rural community.”
