Exhibition of Over 100 Biological Resources from Gyeokryeolbiyeoldo Including Gaengigalmaegi Seagulls
The National Honam Biological Resources Center (Director Ryu Tae-cheol, hereinafter referred to as the Resources Center) under the Ministry of Environment is opening the exhibition "Island of Coexistence, Gyeongryeolbiyeoldo" at the Resources Center's planned exhibition hall.
According to the Resources Center on the 17th, as a specialized research institution for island and coastal organisms, it regularly holds planned and special exhibitions to raise awareness of the importance of island biological resources and the beauty of island ecosystems. This is the Resources Center's fifth planned exhibition on island organisms.

Co-planned with the National Institute of Ecology, this exhibition will be held at the National Honam Biological Resources Center from the 20th of this month until May 26 next year, and from June next year at the National Institute of Ecology.
The exhibition is vibrantly organized into five zones: Rich Sea, Island of Coexistence, Sky of Birds, Gyeongryeolbiyeoldo, and Protecting Island Biological Resources.
In particular, the "Island of Coexistence" zone vividly showcases the ecological uniqueness of this island, which, although located in the mid-latitude region, is known to have a plant community similar to that of the southern coast, by presenting the four seasons of the native plants of Gyeongryeolbiyeoldo, the camellia tree and the mulberry tree, through media art.
Additionally, in November, various experiential events linked to the planned exhibition, such as "Birds Found in Gyeongryeolbiyeoldo" and "Feathers Observed Under a Microscope," will be held.
Ryu Tae-cheol, director of the National Honam Biological Resources Center, stated, "This exhibition will be a great opportunity to inform the public about the biodiversity of Gyeongryeolbiyeoldo, the westernmost island," and added, "We will continue to re-examine the value of island and coastal biological resources through various themed exhibitions."
