The films 'Seoul Spring' and 'Noryang: Sea of Death' have both confirmed IMAX releases, according to their respective distributors on the 17th.
'Seoul Spring,' opening on the 22nd of this month, depicts the tense nine hours on December 12, 1979, in the capital city Seoul, as forces of the new military regime attempt a coup. Directed by Kim Seong-su, the film stars actors Hwang Jung-min, Jung Woo-sung, Lee Sung-min, Park Hae-joon, and Kim Sung-kyun.
Christopher Tillman, Vice President of IMAX Overseas Development and Distribution, stated, "The dramatic storyline and beautiful cinematography will be enhanced through the premium IMAX experience."
'Noryang: Sea of Death,' opening simultaneously in IMAX on the 20th of next month, portrays Admiral Yi Sun-sin's final battle to completely annihilate the retreating Japanese forces seven years after the outbreak of the Imjin War. It is the third installment in director Kim Han-min's Yi Sun-sin trilogy, following 'The Admiral: Roaring Currents' (2014) and 'Hansan: Rising Dragon' (2022).
As the only night battle during the seven-year Imjin War, the film utilized the expertise of the VFX (visual effects) team. The film aims to vividly and expansively depict the fierce 'Battle of Noryang' on the winter sea, involving over 1,000 ships from the Joseon, Japanese, and Ming dynasties, through the IMAX format.
Christopher Tillman expressed, "I am excited to bring fans into the amazing night naval battle and thrilling action sequences."
