The Human Rights and Gender Equality Center at Chosun University recently announced on the 16th that it conducted human rights and violence prevention education for senior faculty members.
The Human Rights and Gender Equality Center was established to protect the human rights of the university community and to realize gender equality. The center handles the reception and investigation of human rights violations, sexual harassment, and sexual violence cases, processing incidents promptly with the principle of protecting victims.
Additionally, to prevent human rights violations, sexual harassment, sexual violence, prostitution, and domestic violence, the center provides online and offline human rights education and prevention training for faculty, staff, and students. Furthermore, it plans and operates various events such as campaigns, film festivals, and group programs, and conducts annual surveys on human rights violations and sexual harassment/sexual violence to foster a human rights-friendly campus environment.
Chosun University conducts tailored violence prevention education annually for senior officials, and in 2022, 78% of all senior officials completed the violence prevention education.
The education session included President Min Young-don, Director of Planning and Coordination Kwon Gu-rak, Hospital Director Kim Kyung-jong, Director of the Human Rights and Ethics Institute Yoon Sung-myung, deans of various colleges, and graduate school directors. Center Director Cha Hee-jung expressed her aspiration, stating, "We will strive to make Chosun University a human rights-friendly campus."
