Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that it is accepting applications for the ‘2023 Bedding Cleanliness Support Project’ targeting lodging businesses until the 23rd.
This project was developed as a new detailed policy under the 8th elected administration’s tourism vision for the Year of Visit Naju 2025 and the leap to the 5 million tourism era. It aims to promote stay tourism and create a pleasant lodging environment.
The city will support lodging facilities selected for the project by covering 60% of the purchase cost for separated bedding sets such as blankets, mats, and pillows, as well as covers, up to 400,000 KRW per facility (based on 1 set), providing 2 sets per room.
Applicants must have completed business registration as of the announcement date (November 16) and currently operate lodging businesses within the city.
This includes tourism pension businesses, foreign tourist urban guesthouses, Hanok experience businesses under the Tourism Promotion Act, and rural guesthouses under the Rural and Fishing Village Development Act.
However, businesses that have received administrative sanctions such as business suspension (including fines) within the past two years or have outstanding national or local taxes are excluded.
Additionally, as a support requirement, lodging businesses must continuously comply with the ‘Cleanliness Commitment Agreement,’ which specifies bedding laundry, facility disinfection, and participation in environmental inspections.
The agreement includes provisions for customer-centered pleasant lodging services, such as providing bedding washed on the day of guest arrival and replacing bedding covers upon guest request at any time.
The city plans to select supported businesses based on high scores from evaluations of tourism hospitality training completion, convenience facilities (breakfast provision, availability of tourism promotional materials, internet reservation/payment, etc.), and service, hygiene, and safety management (subscription to disaster liability insurance, availability of first aid kits and medicines, installation of portable emergency lights, etc.).
To provide guidance on these details, a preliminary briefing session and tourism hospitality training were held on the 10th at the city hall’s Ihwa Room for representatives and workers of local lodging businesses.
Applications for tourism pension businesses, foreign tourist urban guesthouses, and Hanok experience businesses are accepted by the city’s Tourism Division, while rural guesthouses apply through the Agricultural Policy Division.

Mayor Yoon Byung-tae stated, “By improving the environment of local lodging businesses, we will enhance the satisfaction of stay-type tourists and firmly establish Naju’s image as a tourist city where visitors want to return and stay. We ask for the active interest and cooperation of business owners in managing clean and pleasant lodging facilities that will contribute to the Year of Visit Naju 2025 and the realization of the 5 million Naju tourism era.”
