GM "Confidence in Business Activities Due to Korean Regulatory Reform"

Alfred Amin, Senior Vice President of General Motors (GM), expressed his intention to increase production at Korean factories during a meeting with President Yoon Suk-yeol at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit on the 15th (local time).

Choi Sang-mok, Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs to the President, stated at a briefing held in San Francisco, USA, that "During a pre-summit conversation at the CEO Summit, the GM Senior Vice President said, 'Thanks to the Korean government's bold regulatory reforms and institutional improvements, we have gained confidence in conducting business activities,' and announced that GM will continue to increase production in Korea following a 30-year partnership."

Choi added, "It is meaningful that GM expressed confidence in conducting business activities in Korea, appreciating the regulatory reforms and institutional improvements aligned with global standards implemented since the Yoon Suk-yeol administration."

The fact that regulatory reforms and institutional improvements are being made to the extent that the business environment for foreign companies is improving is intended to serve as a driving force that could lead to investments from other foreign companies.

Choi also conveyed that Kelly remarked, "Since President Yoon's inauguration, exchanges and cooperation among the three countries?Korea, the United States, and Japan?have completely changed compared to the past, and this has been felt in many places."
