On the 16th, the 2024 CSAT began simultaneously at 1,279 test centers across 84 testing districts nationwide.

The Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE) disclosed the answers on its website after the first session Korean language exam concluded. The Korean language section, held from 8:40 AM to 10:00 AM for 80 minutes, consisted of a total of 45 questions.

Under the integrated liberal arts and science CSAT system, test takers take the Korean and Mathematics sections in a 'common + elective subject' format. For the Korean section, all students take the common Reading and Literature test, and then take the exam for one elective subject chosen between 'Speech and Composition' and 'Language and Media.'

Although the test areas and scope are the same as last year, the government’s measures to reduce private education led to the exclusion of 'killer questions' (extremely difficult questions) that sparked controversy for being outside the curriculum. This resulted in a different approach to setting questions with appropriate difficulty levels. Jeong, the chief test commissioner, stated about the Korean section, "We selected educationally valuable topics and made efforts to minimize advantages or disadvantages between elective subjects."

According to KICE, the total number of CSAT applicants this year is approximately 504,580, with repeat test takers and those taking the test multiple times accounting for 35%, the highest level in 28 years since the 1996 CSAT (37.4%).

Starting with the first session Korean language section (08:40?10:00), the test proceeds in the following order: ▲ second session Mathematics (10:30?12:10) ▲ third session English (13:10?14:20) ▲ fourth session Korean History and Inquiry subjects (14:50?16:37) ▲ fifth session Second Foreign Language and Chinese Characters (17:05?17:45).

From immediately after the CSAT until the 20th, objections to questions and answers can be submitted through the KICE website. CSAT scores will be individually notified to test takers on the 8th of next month.
