Late at night on the 15th, a day before the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), a fire broke out at a waste disposal company in Gimhae, Gyeongnam.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters on the 16th, a report of a fire at a resource recycling facility in Hallim-myeon, Gimhae City, was received around 11:51 PM that night.
The fire occurred at an intermediate waste processing company that collects and crushes waste synthetic resin for delivery. An employee from a nearby factory witnessed the flames and smoke and called 119.
The fire on the building's roof was extinguished by responding firefighters around 1:48 AM the next day, causing property damage estimated at approximately 29 million KRW by the fire station.
The fire damaged equipment such as crushers and half of one building, but there were no casualties.
A total of 64 personnel, including firefighters, police officers, and Korea Electric Power Corporation employees, were deployed to the scene, with 23 pieces of equipment such as aerial ladder trucks, water tanks, and unmanned water cannons mobilized.
The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire, which is presumed to have been caused by spontaneous combustion due to chemical factors.
