This Rainbow Classroom project was carried out in collaboration with the international non-governmental organization (NGO) Save the Children. Through a fair selection process including institution recruitment, document screening, and expert on-site evaluation, Saedeulwon in Busan was chosen as the project site. To ensure educational aspects were considered, two sessions of special lectures on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child involving child participation and educational programs to promote children's rights were conducted, followed by projects to create a safe and healthy living environment and improve aging facility conditions.
Established in 1945, the Saedeulwon facility has been operating for nearly 80 years, and improvements were necessary considering the children's play environment and safety. Accordingly, KB Securities carried out overall facility repairs including rooftop waterproofing installation, exterior wall painting, and installation of a windbreak room, as well as improvements to both internal and external educational environments. In particular, the Saedeulwon Rainbow Classroom was remodeled by actively reflecting the opinions of resident children and facility staff to create a sustainable child welfare facility environment, and continuous monitoring and follow-up management will be conducted going forward.
Junglim Park and Sunghyun Kim, co-CEOs of KB Securities, stated, "The growth of future generations through education is a core value that KB Securities must continuously pursue. The Rainbow Classroom project, which has been implemented to improve the educational environment for children and adolescents, will continue and expand, and we will strive to become a company that practices ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management through various social contribution projects."
The Rainbow Classroom project is KB Securities' representative social contribution initiative aimed at improving the educational and play environments for children domestically and internationally. Since its inception in 2009, the project has been carried out at a total of 22 locations in Korea and 12 overseas, including the recent Saedeulwon child welfare facility in Busan, to foster future generations, a core value of KB Securities' ESG management.
