Union Street Counseling Event from 6 PM to Midnight on the 16th in Seomyeon Youth Street Area
Delivering Support Messages to Students Stressed by Studies and Supporting Healthy Growth of Out-of-Home Youth
On the 16th, the day of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), Busan City will conduct outreach and deliver support messages to youth exhausted from studying from 6 p.m. to midnight around Seomyeon Youth Street.
The street counseling aims to identify and counsel runaway-risk youth to help them return home, provide lodging and meals to youth in need of protection, or connect them to youth shelters and other protective facilities, supporting their safe and healthy growth.
This mobile street counseling is organized by the Busan Temporary Youth Shelter (fixed location) and involves 15 related organizations including the Busan Youth Shelter, Busan Youth Independence Support Center, Busanjin Police Station, and Youth Sexual Culture Center, conducting a joint street counseling event simultaneously at youth shelters nationwide.
During the joint street counseling, visits will be made to establishments frequently used by youth to promote youth protection campaigns such as prohibiting the sale of alcohol and cigarettes, restricting entry and employment, and various experiential activities will be held.
In particular, visits will be made to game lands, coin karaoke rooms, PC bangs, convenience stores, and other places mainly frequented by youth to actively encourage participation in campaigns protecting youth from harmful environments by prohibiting alcohol and cigarette sales and restricting entry and employment in harmful establishments.
Additionally, activities such as making pinwheels, OX quizzes, and a police photo zone for building happy friendships among youth will be set up to provide engaging experiences supporting the psychological and emotional well-being of youth. The booths will operate until 10 p.m.
Kim Eun-hee, Director of the Women and Family Bureau, said, “We hope this joint street counseling will greatly help youth who are psychologically exhausted from the CSAT and other stresses,” adding, “Busan City will continue to strive to develop and implement various policies to ensure youth can grow up healthy in a safe environment.”
