Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, conducted a 'Personal Information Protection Education for Data Subjects' supported by the Personal Information Protection Commission and the Korea Internet & Security Agency from the 13th to the 14th, targeting senior citizens and multicultural families.
The education focused on preventing and responding to damages caused by the exposure of personal information. The training was substantial, centered on various frequently occurring damage cases.
One elderly participant said, "After hearing about actual damage cases, I realized that if personal information is managed carelessly, one will inevitably become involved in cyber phishing," adding, "I also learned for the first time that in case of such damage, you can call 118 without an area code."
Nam Han-kwon, the mayor of Ulleung-gun, stated, "We will take the lead in raising residents' awareness of personal information protection not only through such education but also by conducting our own campaigns."
