Kim Seong, Jangheung County Governor, Receives 2023 Korea Sports Promotion Award

"I will continue to strive for the development of the sports industry"

Kim Seong, the governor of Jangheung County, received the Grand Prize in the Leader category at the '2023 Korea Sports Promotion Awards' on the 9th.

According to the county on the 14th, the Korea Sports Promotion Awards were established in 2019 to encourage sports-related organizations and contributors who have exemplary contributions to the development and promotion of Korean sports and the sports industry.

This year's Sports Promotion Awards were hosted by Sports Donga and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation.

Governor Kim was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to a local event and received the plaque on the 13th.

Governor Kim has made efforts to attract various public projects, including the establishment of the Korea Sports Talent Development Institute, and to create a sports facility cluster such as the Jangheung County Comprehensive Sports Town and the county baseball stadium.

He has also devoted efforts to fostering a sustainable high value-added sports tourism industry to lay the foundation for regional development.

Governor Kim was selected as the awardee in recognition of his efforts to contribute to the spread of a healthy sports culture and regional economic development through hosting nationwide competitions such as the Presidential Cup Ssireum Tournament.

Governor Kim Seong said, “This award recognizes the achievements made through actively promoting the revitalization of the sports industry and the promotion of community sports,” adding, “I will continue to work hard for the development of the sports industry.”
