Hwang Bo-seung-hee's Facebook Post
"Shook Other People's Political Careers... Disgusting"
Hwang Bo-seung-hee, an independent lawmaker, criticized Jang Je-won of the People Power Party, who effectively refused the party’s Innovation Committee’s demand to run in a difficult district, saying, "May your petty politics survive alone and continue for generations."
On the 14th, Hwang posted on her Facebook, "While shaking and ostracizing other politicians’ careers and pushing them out of the party, a certain person who says that their district is precious and cannot be given up regardless of whether the party dies or loses the general election is truly despicable," she said.
Earlier, In Yo-han, head of the People Power Party Innovation Committee, recommended that the party leadership, senior members, and key pro-Yoon Seok-yeol faction lawmakers run in the metropolitan area or not run at all in the April general election next year. However, Jang, a key pro-Yoon lawmaker (Busan Sasang, 3-term), participated in a large-scale event of the local mountaineering club last weekend, among other displays of strength. This was interpreted as effectively drawing a line against the Innovation Committee’s proposal.
In a video released on the YouTube channel 'KTN Hanguk TV News' on the 13th, Jang said at the 15th anniversary event of the Yeowon Mountaineering Club on the 11th, "When my father was in politics, he told me to 'seek achievements, not positions,' and I keep those words close to my heart." He added, "I will not go to Seoul while extending my petty political career. I will stay with you all."
Meanwhile, Hwang declared that she would leave the People Power Party and not run in next year’s general election amid allegations of illegal political funds and an affair scandal.
On Facebook in June, Hwang said, "I sincerely apologize with my head bowed for causing great concern due to my recent family issues and police investigation," adding, "I will humbly let go of everything, take full responsibility for all the criticism against me, and deeply reflect with a more humble attitude."
