Daejoo Jeonja Materials to Supply Silicon Anode Materials to SK On Starting Next Year

Daejoo Electronic Materials announced on the 14th that it plans to supply silicon anode materials to battery manufacturer SK On starting next year.

Daejoo Electronic Materials signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with SK On in early last year and has been developing silicon materials suitable for SK On's battery systems. It completed the mass production part approval process in the second quarter of this year and plans to supply mass production from the first quarter of next year. The supplied silicon anode materials will be used in cells for electric vehicles targeting the North American market.

The two companies have agreed to expand their cooperation, including jointly developing silicon anode materials with improved lifespan characteristics. The silicon anode materials supplied by Daejoo Electronic Materials have an energy density 4 to 5 times greater than graphite, and when blended with graphite, they increase energy density, extending driving range and reducing charging time.

Daejoo Electronic Materials has been manufacturing conductive pastes, insulators, and other materials used in electronic products and supplying them to various domestic and international companies. Since 2011, it has applied display material manufacturing techniques to develop silicon anode materials and has been supplying high-efficiency silicon anode materials used in electric vehicle batteries.

Daejoo Electronic Materials has secured global patents related to silicon anode material substances and manufacturing methods and is building a large-scale mass production facility at the Siheung Battery Campus to meet the demand for silicon anode materials.
