Ottogi Launches 'Low Sugar Ketchup' with Reduced Sugar Content

Contains 4.4g Sugars per 100g
Sugar Content Reduced by 80% Compared to Our 'Tomato Ketchup'

Ottogi has launched ‘Low Sugar Ketchup,’ which retains the sweet and tangy taste of ketchup while significantly reducing the sugar content.

As consumer interest in healthy food options has increased recently, products emphasizing ‘Low Spec’ features such as low sugar and low calories are gaining popularity. Since launching Korea’s first 'Tomato Ketchup' in 1971 and maintaining the number one position in the domestic ketchup market, Ottogi has introduced a ‘Low Spec’ ketchup reflecting this trend to target consumers.


The newly introduced Low Sugar Ketchup is characterized by utilizing 52 years of accumulated technology to preserve the original sweet and tangy flavor of ketchup while reducing the sugar content. It meets the low-sugar criteria set by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety by lowering the sugar content to less than 5g per 100g, and contains only sugars derived entirely from tomatoes, allowing for a healthier enjoyment.


The sugar content of the new product is 4.4g per 100g, which is about 80% lower than Ottogi’s existing ‘Tomato Ketchup (21g).’ It is also about half the sugar content compared to the ‘1/2 Half Ketchup (10g)’ launched in 2009. The calorie count is also 40kcal per 100g, which is about one-third of ‘Tomato Ketchup (120kcal)’ and about half of ‘1/2 Half Ketchup (80kcal),’ making it easy to enjoy without worry.


An Ottogi representative said, “As the health-oriented trend spreads and more consumers carefully check nutritional information when purchasing products, we have launched Low Sugar Ketchup with significantly reduced sugar content. We plan to expand the range of sugar-reduced products in the future to provide a wide selection for consumers who prefer a healthy diet.”
