Unauthorized Filming Raises Suspicion of Stone Pile Abandonment
"Collected Due to Possibility of Additional Filming," Explanation Given

The production team of 'Muindo-ui Diba' starring actor Park Eun-bin apologized after allegations arose that they left a large pile of stones used for filming abandoned.

On the 13th, 'Jeju's Sound' published an article titled 'Controversy over nuisance drama leaving piles of stones after unauthorized filming on Jeju beach,' featuring photos of thousands of piles of stones scattered around Hwangwoochi Beach in Jeju.

The media reported, "In the tvN drama 'Muindo-ui Diba' aired on the 28th of last month, there is a scene where the protagonist Mokha lives alone on a remote uninhabited island for 15 years and sends an 'SOS' signal with stones. The stones used in that scene perfectly match the shape of those piled up," adding, "News that the drama was actually filmed at Hwangwoochi Beach has already become a hot topic on social networking services (SNS)."

Quoting a whistleblower, the article stated, "I have often seen drama filming in Jeju, but this is the first time I have seen such irresponsible behavior with no cleanup afterward," and added, "Recently, even drama sets filming in urban areas have faced complaints due to noise and traffic restrictions, but in this case, the issue is more serious because it involves environmental damage."

The allegations did not stop there. The media also raised suspicions of unauthorized filming for the drama. It was confirmed that filming took place without the necessary cooperation and permits from the administrative city, which are essential for the use and occupation of shared waters for filming.

Regarding this, a representative from the drama production company explained, "After filming this summer, there is a possibility of additional filming, so after consulting with village officials, we gathered the stones in one place and left them there," adding, "We received cooperation from the village chief for filming but were not aware of the administrative procedures, so we did not obtain cooperation from the administrative city. We will restore the site to its original state as soon as possible."

A Seogwipo City official said, "If unauthorized occupation is confirmed through an on-site inspection, we will proceed with administrative procedures such as ordering restoration to the original state."

They later apologized for the incident.

The controversy over nuisance filming by drama production companies has been repeatedly raised. Around September, the production companies SLL and Glen & Grim of the JTBC drama 'Hero-neun Anibnida-man' apologized for causing inconvenience to hospital visitors during the filming of hospital scenes.

Also, in July, the production team of Netflix original series 'Squid Game' Season 2 apologized after causing controversy by blocking escalators at Incheon Airport and telling citizens trying to use them to "go back" in an annoyed manner.

In March, the filming team of the Netflix original drama 'Mask Girl' bowed in apology following criticism that they caused inconvenience to nearby residents.

The drama 'Poksak Soksassuda' starring Park Bo-gum and IU also sparked controversy over nuisance filming even before its broadcast. A citizen expressed anger, saying, "I tried to enter the canola flower field at the Gochang Green Barley Festival, but the drama staff blocked the path and shouted not to take photos." The production company explained and apologized, stating, "We tried to prevent spoiler leaks."
