A joint public institution rental office building is being promoted in Naepo New Town, Chungnam. This is to proactively prepare office buildings where public institutions relocating from the metropolitan area to Chungnam and their employees can reside.
On the 14th, Chungnam Province announced that it held a kickoff meeting for the "Pre-feasibility Study and Basic Plan Establishment Research Service for the Construction of a Joint Rental Office Building in Chungnam Innovation City" at the Chungnam Provincial Government Office the previous day.
The joint rental office building is planned to be constructed to provide a building that public institutions relocating to Chungnam can lease and stay in, considering that the second phase of the metropolitan area public institution relocation plan will be announced after next year's general election.
Chungnam Province plans to build the joint rental office building on a 50,000㎡ site in Mok-ri, Sapgyo-eup, Yesan-gun. Three 20-story buildings will be constructed on the site, accommodating 14 public institutions and providing working conditions for about 5,300 employees.
Chungnam Province's plan is to utilize some of the lower floors of the buildings as shopping malls, while converting the remaining spaces into office areas for public institutions.
The research service will proceed for one year. The ultimate goal is to produce results analyzing the regional conditions and business environment to determine the necessity and appropriate scale for constructing the joint rental office building.
Additionally, a facility plan linking nearby residential facilities and the surrounding environment will be established, and the operational revenue and costs resulting from the entrusted development project of public property will also be analyzed.
Chungnam Province plans to establish the basic plan for the joint rental office building by March next year, and then focus administrative efforts to start construction in 2025 after feasibility studies by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and central investment reviews in the second half of the year.
Jeon Hyung-sik, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs of Chungnam Province, said, "The construction of the joint rental office building will serve as a catalyst for the relocation of public institutions and further contribute to realizing the purpose of balanced development, which is the goal of the innovation city."
