'Stop Child Abuse'... Seongnam City to Hold 'Child Abuse Prevention Education' for Parents on the 25th Seongnam City will hold a parenting education session for 150 citizens with children on the 25th at Hannuri on the 3rd floor of City Hall to commemorate the 'Child Abuse Prevention Day' (November 19).

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will conduct child abuse prevention education for parents.


To commemorate 'Child Abuse Prevention Day' (November 19), Seongnam City announced on the 14th that it will hold parent education for 150 citizens with children on the 25th at Hannuri on the 3rd floor of City Hall.


The lecturer for the day will be Jae-yeon Park, director of the Replus Human Research Institute, who will give a lecture titled "Connected Conversations for My Beloved Child."


In the lecture, Director Park will talk about the joy, happiness, value, and learning gained through children, and will teach mature communication methods and attitudes for parents when conversing with their children.


Director Park plans to deliver the message that connected conversation methods, especially ▲self-awareness ▲emotional regulation ▲self-motivation ▲empathy ▲relationship management, serve as the foundation for raising children into healthy members of society.


A Seongnam City official said, "This education was planned for parents who have difficulties communicating with their children," adding, "We expect it to contribute to spreading proper communication methods and creating a Seongnam free of child abuse."


Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, among the 27,971 cases of child abuse last year, 23,119 cases (82.7%) were caused by parents. By type, emotional abuse accounted for the largest share at 38%, followed by multiple abuse (34.9%) and physical abuse (17.6%).
